A VIDEO

This was one of the most unusual days I’ve ever experienced in my life. I was quite amazed by the humility of people at the ashram my family and I visited early in the morning. We followed some treacherous terrain and risked some serious early morning loss of zzz’s to trek to a village two hours outside of Mumbai, called Indgaon. I’ve been there once before but when the place was first being built. There was nothing there. Today there is a large compound with several small temples dedicated to various deities within Hinduism.  After the morning’s festivities we got to take in some rest, an amazing meal, and I managed to take a handful of photos of the barnyard animals.  Apparently, despite being strict vegetarian’s, the bhadjis (Hindu priests) apparently keep a flock of chickens to stave off snake attacks (Snakes in a Mutha Fuckin’ Temple hits theatres in June 2014). That blew my mind.

We also got to take in an amazing meal and found a great many things to appreciate. For one, we were barefoot through the compound, and as I write this entry a day later, I can still feel the harsh sting of 35 degree weather, and an Indian torture best known as acupuncture. You thought the Chinese invented it, huh? Guess again!  Ever tried following a statue of Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwar to a river… I did. I have never felt this much pain in my life and more specifically, in my feet. After all was said and done, I would still have done it because the experience of being there amidst divinity and farm life suited me. It brought me some time to reflect and continue my journey with a quiet strength. The message from the maharaj (spiritual leader) was to come back. I will do so gladly.
