Attended my cousin Prajakta’s wedding on Nov 22nd and was amazed at how much fun I had. It was a small wedding (only 400 people) and considering I barely knew anyone it was especially cool to be part of the wedding party and see the event up close. Here are the highlights of a Hindu wedding as far as I got it: pooja, blessings, tie the knot, walk around a fire, hold a haar (flower arrangement to drape around your partner), wait, have family throw rice at you, when ornate cloth is dropped, pin the other person with haar. In this case my new brother-in-law won. He’s the boss of the relationship forever more.
I’ve probably offended hundreds of millions of Hindus in this deconstruction of a thousand year old ritual. But if you don’t like it…stop reading :p

I loved the food. The day was full of a lot of preparation, the wedding car even had a flat which we fixed at 7:00 am, and when all was said and done we had the groom (Ameya) at the right place to greet his new bride (my cousin Praju).
So happy for them both! They’re both pretty extraordinary individuals and their story is pretty amazing. They should make a Bollywood movie about their relationship.
