They totally let hvt…join in all their reindeer games!!! :) Met a young man from Nagarkot who drove me up to The Tower and when we got back we ended up spending the morning playing “Nepali Sorry!” and sharing stories from our childhood. I was privileged to eat with his family, some unbelievably tasty Thakali food in his coffee shop/home. The same Swiss chard his mom harvested while we played Sorry! was prepared, and served to us within an hour; the typical dal, bhat was served with an amazing tomato chutney that had flecks of chili in it. It drew a tart, simple comfort with sharp notes of heat that led a surge of endorphins to my head and into my sinuses. Best I’ve had with exception to the maize rice at Thakali Kitchen.

Lovely view. Lovely family. Lovely food. Niraj’s parents should be very proud of the person they’ve raised. He was so proud to show me his fair city of Nagarkot.
